紅外線橋切機橫梁的縱向運動是橫梁沿縱向導軌進行的運動，起到對板材進行分割的作用。縱向運動系統是由電機提供動力，縱向進給機構也選擇步進電機。由于縱向沒有切削力的影響，所需的驅動力主要用來克服橫梁上所有重量與導軌間的摩擦力，大理石薄板對破機，其摩擦力小于橫向進給機構的切削力。
紅外線橋切機橫向進給運動的工作原理： 拖板沿橫梁的橫向進給運動主要作用是對板材進行切割運動，其運動精度直接影響加工。橫向進給系統是由步進電機提供動力的，橫向進給機構選擇步進電機。當工件的切割厚度為20mm時，進給速度選擇為1-3m/min；當切割厚度變化時，則進給速度相應進行調整。同時，進給速度還根據石材硬度進行調整。進給速度變化由plc控制步進電機的脈沖數來控制，因而可以適合不同厚度和不同品牌的板材切割需要。
